The SNOW-BUS GAIN CALCULATOR is a spreadsheet optimized for PC with MS Excel, which calculates the potential revenue attainable by operating an Alpina SNOW-BUS for transporting persons upon payment of a ticket.
Download the file to your PC and double click on it. You are requested to enter all the GENERAL SETTINGS and the TRIP SETTINGS, which reflect the parameters of your situation and the place where you suppose you would operate your snow-bus activity. Please fill all the requested fields.
The RESULTS section will display some estimated information based on the parameters you have entered, and finally the estimated NET REVENUE per one winter of activity. The estimated net revenue is obtained after paid the fuel cost, the maintenance cost (parts + labor, supposing an average mechanic cost of 50 € / hour), and the depreciation cost. The depreciation cost is the estimated purchase cost of the SNOW-BUS split over 10 years activity. The 10 year depreciation time is a parameter used by convention, however the lifespan of Alpina machines is much longer, proof is most of the machines manufactured by Alpina from its foundation in 1996 are still into service.

NOTE: the calculator does not take into account the driver’s wage, as this can be hardly reckoned due to the infinity of variables. Just two examples: sometimes the driver can be the owner or a relative of him, sometimes the driver it’s an employee who already draw his salary for other appointments in the ski-area, sometimes he can be paid on a daily or hourly basis, etc. If you want to estimate a diver cost on hourly basis, you can use the ESTIMATED OPERATION HOURS / YEAR in the RESULTS section.
